The town walls were a circular defensive structure that protected Tremp’s initial medieval settlement. This enclosed area once featured up to four circular defense towers, showcasing Tremp’s historical importance as a defensive hub in the region.

The oldest towers date back to the 11th century and include the Sacristy Tower (next to the Basilica) and the Mingo Tower, located in Capdevila Square. Two more were added in the 14th century: the Father’s Tower and the Gavatxa Tower. The latter was later demolished and no longer exists.

Pirineus Geological Open Museum

The Pirineus Geological Open Museum (PGOM) is an outdoor museum dedicated to geology, with the primary goal of teaching geological concepts to both students and the general public.

The museum features three areas: the Lighthouse, which serves as the starting point of the tour; the Rock Garden, displaying 13 rocks from the Pyrenees that correspond to the International Chronostratigraphic Chart; and, finally, the Avenue of Geological Time, which illustrates the evolution of Earth and life.

Opened in 2020, the museum can be visited freely.

Hermitage of Sant Bartomeu

The hike to the Hermitage of Sant Bartomeu in Tremp is an ideal activity for hiking enthusiasts (who have countless routes available in the Pallars Jussà) and walking lovers in general.

Starting from the center of Tremp, the route involves some uphill gradients. The trail leads to an elevated point offering a panoramic view of the town. Upon reaching the hermitage (now completely in ruins), you can sit down to rest and refresh yourself at a nearby fountain.
